FEARnet TRAINING GEM VIDEO aka What We Do For A Living

December 6, 2012

REFLECTIONS on 4/3/2024: In December of 2012, everyone in the FEARnet offices were asked to put together a presentation of what their department did so that the other departments could get a better handle on how the entire company worked together in concert. We were in the second Lionsgate building over in Santa Monica, sharing a floor with Pantelion Films, and I worked with the web and programming department.

So, any pitches I had for video content, such as bringing in SAW sequel screenwriters Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton to come in because we had a SAW marathon of Parts 4-7 on the network, would be shot, edited, and produced by our video team: Rhi Bergado, Kyle Van Vonderen, and Ben Kopplin. This team was so, so amazing, and elevated any and all ideas we presented them with.

While other teams were putting together power point presentations, they had the idea to shoot an 80’s style “training gem video,” using legitimate VHS camcorders, and presenting it in that way. This was so much fun to shoot, and was met with puzzled looks from most of the company. Except us, we were all laughing our asses off! FEARnet was easily one of my best, favorite professional experiences, and a big part of it was because of little projects like this. Special thanks to our web team too: Lawrence Raffel and Chris Connors.
