ICONS OF FRIGHT: THE PODCAST! Episode 5, A New Beginning!

October 16, 2025

Join your hosts Rob Galluzzo, Mike Cucinotta, Jason Alvino, and Adam Barnick as they wrap up their look back on the first 5-6 years of Icons of Fright, all of which is in the new Harker Press book, Icons Of Fright: 100 Interviews With Legendary Horror Filmmakers. We talk about how Icons led to spin-off sites such as Massive Hysteria and Icons Of Punk, the evolution of the horror website cycle as the turn of 2010. We contextualize the “lost interviews” featured in the book and how the brand new ones with Parker Finn, Jon Watts, and Danny Philippou came about. Each host shares their personal favorite interview in the book, and what the future may hold. Because let’s face it, these days, ya gotta have a sequel, right?

Hosted by Rob Galluzzo, Mike Cucinotta, Jason Alvino, and Adam Barnick. Opening theme song is “I Came To Kill” by Late Night Horror Show, written and performed by Clint Carney.

MORE ABOUT THE BOOK!!!

“An essential archive of early Internet genre journalism, a treasure trove of in-depth interviews by writers with undeniable, infectious passion for their subjects.” – Matt Serafini (Author of Feeders and Rites of Extinction)

“Long before scary movies hit peak online commercial viability, the Icons of Fright folks were already in the trenches, interviewing both the legends and semi-obscure characters of the genre. This book is a testament to the fact that it was, and always will be, the passion of the fans that keeps Horror slithering and slashing onward.” – Bill Shafer (owner, curator Hyaena Gallery)

“An amazing treasure chest of fond memories and in-depth conversations. If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to run off with your favorite genre stars to the local diner and pepper them with questions until dawn, Icons of Fright has done the hard work for you! (Spoiler: No celebrities were abducted during the making of this book. I think.) Any horror enthusiast who lived through the early years of the millennium will be awash in nostalgia – it’s a snapshot of a simpler, purer time in horror fandom vs. merely “creating content” and “chasing clicks.” It’s immediately obvious that these folks, on both sides of the interview table, are there because they love it. The passion is infectious.” – Aaron Christensen (Rondo-winning author, host of the HORROR 101 with Dr. AC podcast)
