Looking back, this was such an incredible experience. Back in 2017, my friend Jeremy Padow invited me to create a few short interstitial segments to air on Hulu as part of their “HuluWeen” block. We did four episodes total of “Frights & Insights”, starting with one on THE MONSTER SQUAD! These have all but disappeared from online existence, but alas, I tend to back up everything!! So, for prosperity’s sake, I am restoring all four episodes and making them available again! First up, my chat with THE MONSTER SQUAD!

I’ve spoken with Tom Holland a LOT about filmmaking over the years, both on and off record. But I think our episode of Frights & Insights on FRIGHT NIGHT could be one of my favorite conversations. Why? Well, when we did this back in 2017, we’d already known each other quite well for many years, so there’s a certain sense of warmth, affection, and respect that is clear in this chat. This is one of the main reasons I want to make this stuff available again. It’s genuine and sincere! Next up is Tom Holland and I talking all things FRIGHT NIGHT!

Any chance I get to shine the spotlight on the great Don Coscarelli, I’ll take it! Back in 2017, when we were putting together ideas for “Frights & Insights” episodes, I saw that JOHN DIES AT THE END was available on Hulu and knew immediately that we had to feature it for sure! Don and his cast graciously came down to hang out with us and celebrate this crazy little movie. If you’ve never seen it, put it on your queue this Halloween season.

Lastly, the fourth and final episode was also a backdoor pilot for a video version of the Shock Waves podcast, and instead of being 5 minutes like the previous segments, this one was a full 22 minutes long! It was fun to do, and the “Shock Waves” podcast lasted 192 episodes (!) over the course four years, starting in 2016 (as a continuation of the Killer POV podcast) through the early days of the pandemic in 2020. It ended in the stupidest of ways and none of these hosts are my friends nor in my life anymore and they did me a favor since they would’ve rather have tainted our entire beautiful legacy together than step up and do the right thing. I can never forgive them. I can never watch this again, but for people that were fans, I’m making this available for YOU.
