Since the advent of DVD and later Blu-Ray, it’s always fun to comb over the myriad of “special features” that are presented on releases of our favorite movies. But sometimes, there are little TV specials, featurettes, HBO first looks and vintage promotional materials of that sort that fall through the cracks. As a kid, I tried my best to always have a blank VHS tape handy so I could capture some of these oddities when they aired.

I’m still thrilled I taped all 3 of the Horror Hall Of Fame awards off cable television! But occasionally, I’ll stumble upon something that I only have a vague memory of.

It’s a fact that A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 4: THE DREAM MASTER was, by far, the most successful and lucrative of the NIGHTMARE franchise. Freddy-mania was at it’s absolute peak for the release of the third sequel in New Line’s golden series. And so, it’s fun to unearth a vintage 45 minute NIGHTMARE doc released to coincide with NIGHTMARE 4’s theatrical run. Part of the fun is seeing Robert Englund interviewed in full make-up for portions of it. Or seeing on set interviews and footage from THE DREAM MASTER. Or seeing Howard Berger applying Englund’s Freddy make-up!
