THE TRANSFIGURATION Trailer Offers A Unique Spin On The Vampire Genre

April 6, 2017

When it comes to the vampire sub-genre, I’m always interested when filmmakers attempt new and bold things. As seasoned horror fans, we’ve seen it all! But then something like Larry Fessenden’s HABIT will come along. Or a beautiful tale like LET THE RIGHT ONE IN. Or more recently, the black and white Iranian vampire flick A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT. There are plenty of stories left to be told with just a minor shift in tone and execution.

Enter THE TRANSFIGURATION, the directorial debut from Michael O’Shea, which opens at the Angelika Film Center in NY, and the Nuart in Los Angeles, this Friday, April 7th. Within the first few seconds of this trailer, I was already sold. Check it out.

An official selection at the Cannes Film Festival, writer/director Michael O’Shea’s debut feature THE TRANSFIGURATION follows troubled teen Milo who hides behind his fascination with vampire lore. When he meets the equally alienated Sophie, the two form a bond that begins to challenge Milo’s dark obsession, blurring his fantasy into reality. A chilling portrait of violence, THE TRANSFIGURATION is an atmospheric thriller set against the grit of New York City.
